Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XXI Announcement of the 2025 Program Verdi: La Traviata
We are happy to announce the 2025 Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XXI program.
The Seiji Ozawa Music Academy’s 21st Opera Project will feature La Traviata, one of Verdi’s most popular operas. Based on the original literature by Alexandre Dumas fils, Verdi uses beautiful lyrical melodies to portray the unrequited love and sad fate of Violetta, a high-class courtesan who lives in the glamorous society of 19th century Paris. The opera is filled with famous arias such as “Brindisi / A Drinking Song”, “Libiamo / Let’s Drink from The Joyful Cups”, and “Sempre Libera / Always Free”, and is truly a shining masterpiece in the history of opera. La Traviata is one of the most performed operas around the world and 2025 will be the first presentation by the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy.
Maestro Diego Matheuz, principal conductor of the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, together with director David Kneuss, and set and costume designer Robert Pardziola, will create a mesmerizing production. Violetta will be played by Nina Minasyan, an Armenian soprano who is well-regarded for the role. Kang Wang, a Chinese-Australian tenor who is a rising star in the opera world will play the role of Alfredo. Germont, the father of Alfredo, will be sung by one of the greatest modern baritones, American Quinn Kelsey.
The Seiji Ozawa Music Academy will keep Seiji Ozawa’s name as the founder/permanent Artistic Director and inherit his spirit.
Please look forward to another wonderful performances in 2025.
Details including ticket prices and release dates will be announced in the near future.
