Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XIX
Notice of La Bohème performance cancellation for this season

We regret to announce that in consideration of the COVID-19 situation, we are cancelling the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XIX performances of G. Puccini: La Bohème, which were scheduled for March 2021. We sincerely apologize to those who were looking forward to this, as well as to all who were involved.

The aspirations of the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project are to foster young musicians from the Asian region in an authentic opera production setting and to deliver the resulting high-quality opera performances to audiences. However, after much discussion in view of the global COVID-19 situation, we reached the disappointing conclusion that we cannot assuredly bring coaches, singers, musicians, and staff from other countries to Japan next spring to achieve Academy Director Seiji Ozawa’s vision.

The Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project aims to be thoroughly ready to safely hold opera performances next season or later. To our audiences as well as performers and staff who were looking forward to this, we apologize once again and ask for your kind understanding of this extremely difficult decision.
